About Me

you can call me Joe

Eight years into my architecture career, I am looking to deepen my connection with buildings - their design and construction. My background in architectural and urban design history and theory taught me to observe and describe architecture. I developed an interest in the meaning and purpose of the built environment and its affect on our quality of life. As a designer, I listen and ask questions. My personal aesthetic sense and capable professional hand guide thoughtful decision-making. Existing buildings are a particular fascination. Adaptive reuse, addition and renovation are part of my recent work shown here. I want to expand on this portfolio and create new collaborative design partnerships to take on new challenges.

a few of my favorite things

The Morgan Library in New York, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and the Neues Museum in Berlin demonstrate the ingenuity, playfulness and refinement that can be found when new and old buildings meet. These kinds of projects, as well as new buildings with textured, layered and complex compositions inspire me.

I take photos of discarded objects and catalog them on my Instagram account. There is something odd, silly and sweet about them that I enjoy.

My bachelor’s degree in Urban Design and Architecture Studies from NYU included three semesters abroad in Florence and Paris. Those travels, and others, are documented in this companion instagram account.
